That Middleweight Championship bout was actually the main event of UFC fight night 253 that happened on Yas Island, Abu Dhabi. Israel Adesanya eventually won by TKO during the second round of the MMA fight with Paulo Costa and managed to retain his middleweight title.
There was some speculation among MMA fans about this fight and many of them were hoping for a more dreadful combat that, indeed, never came. Though Paulo Costa had managed to remain undefeated during the past months and had an outstanding track record in terms of MMA takedowns, he crashed in this fight with Israel Adesanya. Israel Adesanya put together an impeccable fighting technique that was simply too much for the Brazilian MMA performer. During the initial stages of this MMA fight Israel chopped away Paulo Costa’s lead leg with an unstoppable series of well concentrated kicks. And once Costa got used to Adesanya’s kicks and started to adjust his fighting strategy accordingly, Israel Adesanya started to target his head.
After just 9 minutes, Adesanya dismantled Paulo Costa by TKO.
